'Birdemic' to return to Esquire Theatre on June 11
Director James Nguyen's growing cult sensation, "Birdemic," returns on Friday, June 11 to the Esquire Theatre. Many have panned the movie for its lack of basic filmmaking qualities, from its soundtrack to its acting. Variety's Ronnie Schieb wrote that the special effects "must be seen to be believed: birds dive-bombing and exploding in red-and-yellow poofs of smoke, and clip-art eagles, crudely pasted on the screen, with only their wing tips mechanically flapping."
Pop-rock group Tim Be Told, spoken word artist Kelly Tsai are coming to eXpressions
Virginia-based pop-rock group Tim Be Told, spoken word artist Kelly Tsai are headlining Unversity of Denver's Asian Student Alliance's annual eXpressions event at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12. According to organizers, "eXpressions' mission is to showcase the talents of students, community locals, and out-of-state performers who are primarily Asian-Americans but also welcoming those of other diverse backgrounds. eXpressions seeks to provide one of the many outlets for these aspiring performers to perform whether it is a side hobby of theirs or a seeking profession."
Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy signs sitcom deal with Warner Brothers
Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy said he signed a sitcom deal with Warner Brothers during his show on April 30 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. Other publications, including the Fresno Bee, have confirmed this.
