Avs F Brandon Yip out 4 to 6 weeks

Colorado Avalanche forward Brandon Yip will be out for four to six weeks with a shoulder injury, according to the team. Yip suffered the injury against Detroit on March 1. The rookie has been a spark on the team's second line, netting 11 goals and seven assists in 26 games. Yip had missed the beginning of the season with an injured hand after a fight during a preseason game.


Lucy Liu joins 'East Fifth Bliss'

Lucy Liu, best known for her role as Ling Woo on "Ally McBeal," has joined the cast of the indie comedy "East Fifth Bliss," according to Variety. Liu will play an unhappily married neighbor, according to the story. Michael C. Hall ("Dexter") and Brie Larson will also star in the movie.


Grace Park joins 'Hawaii Five-O' remake

Grace Park – who played Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii on "Battlestar Galactica" – has joined the cast of "Hawaii Five-O," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Park will play Kono Kalakaua, a surfing champion about to graduate from the police academy and the niece of squad member Chin Ho Kelly, played by Daniel Dae Kim ("Lost").


'Ponyo' on DVD

Prolific Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo" came out on DVD on March 2.


Apolo Anton Ohno wins record 8 medals

Despite a disqualification in the 500-meter short track, Apolo Anton Ohno rallied to win a bronze in the men's 5,000-meter relay. The win gave him his eighth Olympic medal, solidifying his place as the most-decorated Winter Olympian in U.S. history.


Julie Chu and the U.S. women's hockey team take the silver

The U.S. women's hockey team lost to Canada 2-0 in the gold medal game on Feb. 25. Chu, who's in her third Olympics, finished the tournament with two goals and four assists.
