DENVER – The third annual Miss Asian American Colorado event will take place at 6 p.m. on July 11 at the Gates Concert Hall on the University of Denver campus.
The program, hosted by Asian Avenue magazine, was created in 2008 to give young Asian-American women the opportunity to develop friendships, as well as leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills. Over the course of the past two months, the young women in the program worked together on various service projects around the community before gathering for the big event.
This year, there are 11 contestants ranging from age 18 to 24 and span across seven different ethnic backgrounds and four different schools.
Erika Tanaka was named Miss AACO in 2009. Duacee Lor was the 2008 Miss AACO after original winner Amanda Igaki stepped down.
Tickets for the event are $20 for adults, $15 for students and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.
